Where did it all begin?
I worked for the NHS for 15 years and have always been passionate about cooking. I’ve always loved experimenting with new flavours and ingredients. Although I had always wanted to start a new adventure in cooking, it never really happened until I became vegan two years ago when I visited a vigil outside the slaughterhouse as part of the Save Movement.
Along with my daughter who was filming, we were bearing witness to the cows being transported in trucks. I then saw a single dairy cow in one large truck and in concern questioned the fellow activist as to why a female cow was going to slaughter. I simply hadn’t made the connection at the time. The activist explained to me the entire dairy cycle including artificial insemination and calf separation which all led to one result, the slaughtering of the cow. I couldn’t believe that I had been a part of that cycle and ever since, myself and my whole family became vegan.

I immediately became more and more passionate and also found so much excitement in cooking plant-based meals and dairy/meat alternatives. This prompted me to start my own catering business serving street food at vegan festivals across the country. After positive reviews and with the support of my family I have now decided to take that big leap and open Vegan House Café. A new venture, a new begging in hope to raise awareness on veganism and bring peace to all beings.
I look forward to you all joining my journey.
Thanks,
Sheila
